Sixth Photo Challenge

Zoya just posted about putting in the sixth photo from your sixth folder. Figured I’d do the same. Heres the result:

DSCN2990

Thing is that the sixth folder was ‘2008’, which contains no photos, only folders of photos taken in 2008… So Sixth folder of that is from our trip to Indonesia earlier in the year. This was a photo I took when we were going from Dumai to Duri. The road was flooded from some fairly heavy rain, plus the tar road was fairly well destroyed from lots of trucks that are way to heavy for the road.

Afternoon Tea

Today we went for afternoon tea at the Windsor hotel. This was a present from Sandy from when we got engaged (thanks Sandy!) last year. It's quite an interesting experience, as there isn't much savoury food, so it's perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth...

Of course, here are some photos:

Needless to say we both ended up eating way too much chocolate and sugar. Was all quite yummy though!

I suppose I should...

HI all,

Am sitting here in class, listening to the lecturer discuss the joys of cultural factors on how companies arrange themselves around running in multiple countries. Interesting, yes, but I've been reminded that I haven't blogged in a while. Sorry about that.

What about me since last post? OK... 1. Been to Indonesia and met the future in-laws. That was fun. I love my future niece and nephew in law. They are so cool. Was a shame that we could only spend a week with them all. Hopefully next time we can arrange more time, or arrange around the transportation better...

2. I'm not working at IBM. Finished my contract there nearly 2 weeks ago now. Hopefully starting a new contract next week. More details coming once the smaller details have been finished.

3. Have been spending the last 2 weeks developing my business... www.gbunixtraining.com - Go there. Buy my book dammit. Or better yet, tell someone to book me to teach their company Perl or Unix or something like that.

4. Wedding is moving along. No specific details to report yet. But its moving forward.

OK... That's me up until now... Yay! Next update in 6 months... (Just kidding, I hope)

Yes, I am still alive...

It has been a while since I posted here. Figured I should post and let everyone know what has been happening.

Finished uni for the year now. Just waiting for results and figuring out which subjects I should do next year. Thinking of doing some logistics stuff, mainly so I have at least a basic understanding of how that all fits together.

Other than that I have finished my book. The website I am using to sell both the book as well as my training services is still a work in progress though. Have a look at www.gbunixtraining.com If you are interested. The book is a training course I run, and am hoping to develop a few more...

Other than that I have just been working my ass off. But I am taking the long weekend this weekend and catching my breath, I hope...

The (original) phantom of the opera

Today I got to see something a bit special. In a lot of ways its shows like these that really make the festival a bit different and fun. Today was a restored print of the original phantom of the opera.

Sound was done with the regent theatres' organ, and while its not as big as the one in the town hall, still manages to belt out some pretty decent sound.

The organist wasn't the usual guy that has played the silent films of previous years, and I don't think he is quite of the caliber, but he managed to do a pretty good job of it.

Next year, I hope a few more people are wanting to come to the silent film with me. They really are a great experience.
