Welcome to Korea...

Hey all,

Its new years eve here in Korea, and its pretty darn cold here. About -1 or 0 or something like that... Got to the hotel about 8pm last night after a longish flight. Wasn't too bad. Took nearly 2 hours to get to the hotel from the airport tho.

Korea is great. Am having fun here... The weather, despite being cold is quite decent. The food is amazing, I think I can eat Korean food for weeks on end with no trouble. The people are quite friendly and we have been able to talk a bit despite knowing almost no Korean. ;-) Ah well. Next time I will make sure I've learnt a bit of the local language before going...

Mostly been shopping today, and I think that's the plan for the next couple of days, too...
Will try and get some photos up next time...

Have fun guys!

Merry Christmas everyone

Hey all,

I know its a couple of days late... Sorry about that... Happy Christmas to everyone... Including all you guys over in the UK... Who was it that sent me that SMS? I have no idea who's number that was. I meant to sms back, but it would have been at 3 in the morning, so I'm sure you are glad I didn't do that...

Anyway, 2 days till we go on holidays. I do intend to post some photos, etc. of our trip. So keep an eye on here. I have no idea how often I will post, but I'll try to do a couple at least :) Ah well. Should be fun. For those who don't know. the general plan (which will be thrown away as soon as we land, mind you) is to go to Seoul first, then Jeju island, then Busan, Daejong, then Seoraksan national park for some yummy hotsprings to warm us up :-) then finally back to Seoul.

Happy birthday to me!

Hey all,

Hrmm... Am now 30... Was my birthday on saturday. I dunno why I bother with birthdays really. They always remind you that you are getting older, less lively, more set in your ways.

Had a really nice dinner, though. We went to the Lobster Cave, which suprisingly enough, is a seafood resteraunt. Very nice place, really. Been there before a couple of times, actually. And I know Tanti is crazy about seafood. I guess growing up in Asia in a place where there is a lot of seafood available will kinda do that for you. Its great stuff... I don't eat enough seafood, really. Well, aside from fish and that sort of thing.

Harry the Pothead

Tanti managed to convince me to go and see Harry Potter the other day. (Actually, I said "Your choice of film tonight." and she chose Harry...)

I gotta say, what a poorly written film! Horribly predictable... I mean who didn't see the bad guy twist coming a mile away (And I don't mean people who actually have enough time to waste reading the book...)

There was only one film that comes to mind as being more predictable, and that's Jurassic Park. And the only reason that's more predictable is because it had a member of the cast who's sole job it was to keep the audience up to date on what's about to happen.

The other thing that gave me the shits was how much of the movie was obviously designed to be tied into merchandise such as the computer games and other toys. I accept that this will happen, but it doesn't need to be that obvious. It was like Star Wars all over again. I mean really. Is it possible to have a popular film that actually tells a story rather than sells a product? I don't want to pay to see a film that is only an adverisement for other crap. And I'm not going to even start about product placements...

I'm just hoping the next film I see is going to be better...

Tickets, please!

Picked up tickets for our trip to Korea today. I thought all airlines did the whole e-ticket thing these days. Not so. I guess its a good thing, in that you actually have something that says you are going, rather than just having your passport and they look up your ticket, etc.

This holiday is going to be cool. Literally. Seoul is supposed to be down below 0 celcius around the time we are going to be there. Going to be a bit of a change from the 30 degree heat of Melbourne when we leave. But 'tis going to be fun. :) Am looking forward to it.

Oh, Brother...

Found out my brother is coming down to Melbourne for Christmas this year... Maybe. I seem to recall him saying something to that effect last year. And the year before. Apparently he's going to be driving down on christmas day. I gotta admit, I can think of better things to do than drive 12 hours in that tiny truck thingie that he drives. But hey... If he's happy to drive 12 hours in a small tin can, then who am I to argue?

Why? Oh Why?????

OK... This is going to be a waste of time if ever I saw it...

OK. The idea here is that a whole bunch of my friends have gone overseas working, etc. I've decided to stay in Melbourne. They are all writing blogs about what they are doing. I'm going to do what will probably amount to an episode of Seinfeld. I'm going to write about nothing.

The title? Well, blogs are basically the vomit of the internet. Horrible stuff, really. But hey. It may end up being entertaining to see what drivel I can come up with. Feel free to comment on my drivel, chances are your drivel will be just as bad as my drivel.

Not really high expectations, is it? Kinda like the American film industry. Expect nothing, and get it.
